Unlock the Power of Self-Healing!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Healing Touch?

Healing Touch is a holistic practice that is classified by the National Institute of Health as a Biofield Therapy. A practitioner works with the subtle energy fields surrounding and within the body. Through gentle touch, with intention, a practitioner works to clear, balance and stimulate these energy centers. By addressing imbalances in one's energy, this supports the body's innate ability to heal.

What kind of sound therapy do you offer and how does it work?

Tuning forks are used to apply sound at the ears. The wide range of frequencies produced by the tuning forks facilitate a deep state of relaxation. The sound frequencies help to open energetic pathways, calms the nervous system, relaxes tight tissue, and may help improve sleep. Sound therapy works through sympathetic resonance. Sound therapy promotes wellbeing on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.

What is Theta Energy Healing?

Theta Energy Technique is a practice that harnesses the power of focused meditation and prayer to facilitate self-healing. A Theta practitioner helps the client explore and release unconscious patterns that may be contributing to physical, emotional, mental and spiritual challenges. Once the imprint of a negative thought, belief, or experience is cleared, one can enjoy a more balanced and purposeful life.

What can I expect during a session?

When you come in for a session, we will talk about the issues you want to address and set goals. We will go through an intake (for new clients).  You will remain fully clothed (I am not a massage therapist), and lay on a massage table, (unless we make other arrangements). After a session, clients typically describe profound relaxation, reduction in pain, reduction in anxiety, more clarity, and sometimes have deep spiritual experiences. Each session is different and responses can vary from session to session and person to person.  Sometimes pain gets a little worse right before it gets better and unexpected emotions can come forward. This is all part of the healing process.

How often do I need to have a session?

This depends on what your goals are, what you are trying to accomplish, and how committed you are. I have clients who come occasionally, clients who have a specific goal who may come several times (for example, they are having surgery and need support before, during and after surgery), and long-term clients who have made self-care part of their monthly routine.

Is Healing Touch the same thing as Reiki?

Both modalities are alike in that practitioners work with the understanding that everything is energy, we are energy and we are affected by subtle energies. In both Reiki and Healing Touch, sacred space and a centering or a grounding practice are essential to being a conduit for energies to move through for benefit of the client.

The biggest difference is that Reiki training is less structured. Trainings are often completed in weekend workshops. Attunements are passed from teacher to student and Sacred Symbols are shared. Core principles are taught, but the Reiki Master creates their own training.

In Healing Touch, there is more formality around the training. The program was developed by a Colorado nurse, Janet Mentgen, throughout the 1980s. There are five levels of training, a year-long mentorship program, and many other assignments/requirements before one can apply for certification.

Healing Touch and Reiki are just a couple of the many types of modalities considered "Energy Medicine" or "Biofield Therapy".  Most practitioners are committed to ongoing training and often train in several modalities, allowing them to create their own unique style of practicing.
